Obscure title award can sit on my mantle piece – but actually its not that obscure, it’s actually quite obvious to me.
Before I forget – I must apologise for the lack of blog posts this weekend. I packed my laptop with me with every intention of writing a live blog post on each day I spent in Newcastle and at the Men’s Roller Derby European Cup – I clearly failed. But updates will follow. In fact take this as your first one.
I spent the weekend going through a range of emotions and standing on my legs for quite a considerable time. Given I wasn’t doing the intensive exercise that is roller derby (as in playing) but I certainly was involved mentally and being a bench there is SO MUCH standing. For somebody who 9 months ago was on crutches it is surprisingly intensive, especially when I spend my days sat on my round bum all day.
Aside from so many things this weekend highlighted one thing – how far I’ve come since my injury. This is not a post of yes I’ve nailed it and I’m there, because there is still so much for me to nail (split squats and my massive imbalance) but I can now do the simple things really bloody well, including running, walking and jumping! I can jump! Knees high, broad jump and ridiculously happy celebratory jump when your team do something amazing!
